Are you still trying to hold onto last moments of summer fun? Are you lamenting the Halloween and holiday decorations already popping up on store shelves? While summer is winding down, the fun doesn’t have to end. Fall for the arts with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and find programs and performances that make it easy to leave summer behind!

Fall for dazzling Broadway performances and silly, heartwarming shows for the family. Fall for world-class dance and for special events and festivals that will shatter your expectations. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has put together a season of Fall events that rivals even the sunniest of summer days. Here are a few recommendations to get you excited for the season ahead.

Fall for Broadway

Kick off the fall season with a laugh when you see The Play That Goes Wrong (September 18-23, Benedum Center), the first performance of the season on the 2018-2019 PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh Series. This fall, the Benedum Center stage will also be filled with acrobatics, theater, dance and live music for the world premiere of Cirque Éloize Hotel (September 25-30), part of the Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts.

Want to be part of the show? Check out Jim Caruso’s Cast Party (September 25, Greer Cabaret Theater), a special on the Trust Cabaret Series. You can have your moment in the spotlight by signing up for your opportunity to perform on stage.

Fall for Family Fun

Your family will forget that summer is gone when you join Aga-Boom (November 9-10, Byham Theater) for a hilarious, confetti-filled start to the Citizens Bank Children’s Theater Series, or immerse yourself in a suspenseful tale with Androcles and The Lion (November 2-10, Trust Arts Education Center), the first performance on the EQT Bridge Theater Series.

Fall for Captivating Creations

Back-to-school season doesn’t have to feel boring when Blind Cinema (September 22, Harris Theater), part of Multiple Choice Events, puts your mind to the test. As you sit blindfolded, children will describe a film only they can see in hushed voices.

You can dance along with the falling leaves as Companhia de Dança Deborah Colker (October 13, Byham Theater) rewrites the rules for modern dance in the first Dance Council performance of the season.

Fall for Music

As the days get shorter, fill your nights with the sounds of beautiful music in the Cultural District including performances from Straight No Chaser December 5-6 at the Benedum Center. Transition from the heat of summer to cool jazz every Tuesday in the Backstage Bar with BNY Mellon Presents JazzLive.

Fall for Festivals

For eight weeks this Fall, the Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts will electrify the Cultural District with never-before-seen regional, U.S., and World Premieres. The Festival begins during the September 21 Gallery Crawl and offers international art to warm your soul and spirit despite the chill in the air.
