Bland cafeteria food? Stick it to the man! Take a field trip to BRGR's Downtown location (535 Liberty Avenue) and dine like a rock star.

In case you hadn't guessed, School of Rock The Musical opens at the Benedum Center this week (October 17-22). But before we watch Dewey Finn and his band of pint-size rockers battle it out on stage, we're heading to BRGR for gourmet burgers and handmade shakes.

BRGR's menu is always rockin'. Even the classics are an upgrade from your typical burger, whether it be the "Fire in the Hole" with guacamole, jalapeños, pepperjack, chipotle aioli, and sriracha, or the "Button Buster" with short ribs, white cheddar, onion rings, and béarnaise aioli. The "Bur-ogi" delivers a scrumptious new way of including a Pittsburgh staple — pierogi — into your diet: here, it's placed atop an angus patty, garnished with sour cream, Dijon, sauerkraut, and caramelized onions, and sandwiched between a pretzel bun.

But if you really want an experience, go with a signature burger.  The seasonally-themed "Gobble Gobble" is back on the menu, and it promises to be a full Thanksgiving feast stuffed into one bun: turkey burger, sage stuffing, picked green beans, cranberry aioli and turkey gravy. We suggest pairing it with an order of sweet potato fries to get the full effect.

But hey, if you're really in the mood to defy authority, ignore the menu and be the master of your own fate. Craft your own burger during your visit.

Featured Cocktail: For Those About to Rock

An apple for the teacher? Nah. Horace Green substitute Dewey Finn would demand an apple-themed cocktail instead, so that's what BRGR is serving up. This week only, try the aptly-named cocktail "For Those About To Rock," made with scotch, applejack, luxardo simple, lemon, all spice rinse, and flamed citrus. It's the perfect fall cocktail: a little bit sweet, and a little bit tart.

Extra credit: Anyone can enjoy the fare, but only PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh season ticket holders and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust members receive A-list dining discounts while dining at BRGR this week. Simply show your ticket stub or membership card to receive 15% off your meal (less alcohol, taxes, and gratuity). Become a member or season ticket holder to upgrade your experience for future shows.
